Zebra Cupcakes

Homemade zebra cupcakes recipe, yielding up to 24 cupcakes. Here are the ingredients:

  • 3 Eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup canola oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 ¼ cups Flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • ¼ cup club soda

For the chocolate batter:

  • 2 Tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp coffee powder
  • 1 Tbsp warm water


  • Preheat the oven to 325 ℉ and line a muffin pan with baking cups.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat three large eggs using an electric mixer or whisk.
  • Add sugar and whisk for a few minutes.
  • Incorporate canola oil (or any flavorless oil) and vanilla extract.
  • Pour in club soda and give it a final whisk.
  • Separate the batter into equal halves in different bowls.
  • Mix instant coffee with cocoa powder and add the cocoa mixture into one bowl. Mix well.
  • Pour both batters alternatively into the muffin tins, creating a zebra pattern.
  • Use a toothpick to make swirls in the batter.
  • Place the muffin pan in the central rack and bake for 30 minutes.
  • Once baked, allow the cupcakes to cool for 15 minutes.
  • Frost the cupcakes with buttercream.
  • Mix the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, and salt). Strain and add half of the dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
  • Add milk and mix well, then add the remaining dry ingredients.
