Garlic Breadsticks


I love breadsticks! Instead of buying breadsticks from a carryout place, I found an easy recipe to make them at home. They turned out gorgeous with soft bread in the middle and crisp on top and bottom. They are so addictive, full of garlicky goodness. 
Make a batch of these yummy breadsticks to serve alongside your next dinner.

Ingredients

For yeast
  • 1 ½ tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp instant dry yeast
  • ½ cup warm water
For dough
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 ½ tsp sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
For topping
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted melted butter
  • 2 Tbsp freshly chopped garlic
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 Tbsp freshly chopped coriander leaves
  • ½ tsp chilli powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup or more shredded Mozzarella cheese 
  • 2 Tbsp parmesan cheese

Directions


  1. In a clean bowl or jar, Dissolve sugar and yeast in warm water (120℉ to 170℉). Let it stand for five minutes until it becomes foamy. 
  2. In a large bowl, add all purpose flour, sugar, salt, garlic powder, olive oil and the activated yeast. Mix well and knead it for 5 minutes, or until a smooth dough is formed.
  3. Place the dough on a greased bowl and cover it.
  4. Let it rise for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 400F. Grease a baking sheet with oil.
  6. After a good rise. Dust some flour on work surface roll out the kneaded dough flat and place it on a baking sheet. Roll out the dough again, so that it takes the shape of baking sheet.
  7. For Topping : In a cup, add melted butter, freshly chopped garlic, oregano, freshly chopped coriander/parsley leaves, chilli powder and salt. Mix well and brush it over the flattened dough.
  8. Add shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheese on top.
  9. Slightly make a horizontal cut(not thoroughly) in the middle of the dough and 10 vertical cuts. 
  10. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in a preheated oven.
  11. Enjoy them with marinara sauce or just tomato sauce.
